Five Minutes

I’m trying something new I saw another blogger do. I’m giving myself 5 minutes to write whatever comes to mind. I’m pretty sure this will be some manic rambling but thought I’d give it a try.

Yesterday was my birthday and it was fantastic, however I went into a manic episode that persists today, and no telling how long it will last. Manic episodes end up effecting those around me because its intense. Including a fight with my husband. I was picking a fight with him about shit from the past. Thankfully we made up from that.

I was in a depressed episode for months before that. I had no motivation to write. I only seem to be able to write when I’m manic because I have all these ideas that flow from me. Half I don’t remember because I’m so all over the place. I can manage the feelings and emotions for the most part, but I still stayed stuck there for a while.

I like my manic episodes because I can be more creative and inspired to write, like this random five-minute post I saw.

Aside from that I have made the move to start school again. I’m hoping to go in spring and start to go to school. the thing that worried me the most was the cost, but I found out there is a grant program for adults to attend school for a two-year degree. I’m excited and nervous because I don’t consider myself that smart. I struggle a lot with education because I spent my time growing up ignoring everything. But that’s a story for another time.

And that’s the random five minutes of my life.

To explain what the five-minute writing target is; it forces you to think quick and translate those thoughts into the writing. It helps with memory and quick creative thought processing. In the long term you learn to write better and have more precise writing. You can also do the five-minute writing task to jumpstart your memory and focus on a specific topic to expand on and write.

This would typically be private, but wanted to share a new method I want to try to use going forward.

I was pretty neat and I have a few great ideas that came out of it to write more later.
